This bearing type consists of a shaft washer, two housing washers, and two ball and cage assemblies. Thrust ball bearings have an open design. High rotational speeds are made possible by the ball elements. As thrust ball bearings are separable, the components can be easily assembled independently of each other. Double-direction thrust ball bearings are suitable for axial loads in both directions, permitting axial locating of the shaft in either direction. However, these bearings are not intended for radial loads. The shaft washer is mounted on the shaft and rotates along with it, while the housing washers have a slightly larger bore diameter, providing clearance for free shaft movement. ROLL. SINGLE ROW CONE The 356 Timken is a cone for a single-row tapered roller bearing. This removable cone consists of the inner ring and rollers of the bearing. Together with a separately available cup (or outer ring), these parts make up a complete tapered roller bearing. The inner and outer rings have conical raceways and the rollers are tapered. This design enables tapered roller bearings to absorb radial and axial forces (in one direction). The geometrical qualities of tapered roller bearings prevent sliding movements between the raceways and rollers. This will keep component wear down to a minimum. However, a minimum load is required for proper bearing operation. Because cone and cup are separable, they can easily be mounted. In addition, end play (axial clearance) or preload can be adjusted by moving the components axially during assembly. For reliable operation of your bearing, it is best to replace cone and cup at the same time. We recommend taking components from the same manufacturer. This prevents bearing problems caused by different internal bearing profiles, differences in material, and in tolerances.
